"Hei" Oslo!

We left for the airport with extra time because it was an international flight, and with our luck we always manage to get lost or something always seems to go wrong. Luckily, that wasn't the case this time. Checking in and going through security was surprisingly quick, so we had close to two hours to wander around the airport. When we arrived at the airport our flight had not been assigned a gate number, so we decided to grab some lunch and wander around looking for rain boots for Natalie. With no luck on the search for rain boots, we soon headed to our gate and in no time at all we were on our way to Norway!
We were so excited about being in Oslo for the next few days that we established a phrase for the trip: you only Oslo once. It's like yolo (you only live once), but with a twist. We even made a fool of ourselves in the airport while making a short video documenting our excitement.

We heard that alcohol is very expensive in the supermarkets and convince stores, so we bought a liter of Jägermeister in the airport to have for the rest of the weekend. Someone working at the airport asked if we needed help with anything and Lindsay said we were good because she had her best friend, referring to the alcohol. The man responded with "lady, you got a problem."
Even though it was rainy and overcast, it was evident that everything here is green and beautiful.

We got off the bus and had no idea where we were. We were told the hostel was across the park at the buildings with blue flags. Looking around the field, there were no blue flags in site. After wandering for at least 10 minutes, we finally found some blue flags. These flags were in front of a warehouse store. I may have been mistaken, but I don't think we reserved space for sleeping in a warehouse. After a few more minutes of wandering, we finally asked someone for directions and were pointed in the right direction. Luckily the rain had subsided so it was nice exploring the area.

We finally made our way to the hostel to get settled in, which had no blue flags I might add. It is a beautiful facility with a large communal kitchen and various common rooms for people to hang out, watch tv, and mingle with people from all over the world. Shortly after getting settled in, we walked to a supermarket down the road to get food to make for dinner. We are turning into quite the chefs and made chicken salad with peppers and avocado for dinner.

Because it was relatively late and we were new to the area, we decided to leave a more thorough exploration of the city for tomorrow. While using the wireless Internet in the lobby we met Stephen who just finished studying abroad for the semester and is now backpacking through Europe. We spent the rest of the evening relaxing in the lounge area getting to know our new sightseeing buddy a little better.
