Day of Recovery
In class we broke up into groups to decide what our final group project would be. I had initially had the idea of incorporating libraries, technology, and education, but I soon found a group that presenting on food and children. After we started talking in our small group I started getting more and more excited about the prospect of this project. We talked about serving tea and cookies to embody the Turkish hospitality and we came up with a rough outline for how the presentation would be.
For the second half of class we did arts and crafts. While we were working on our group projects, Maja went to the store to pick up art supplies. We had the opportunity to use the art supplies to make posters or visuals for our group presentation, but Maja also bought little wooden boxes for us to paint. My group had a fairly strong foundation to work on our presentation, so we decided to break up and go paint. I felt like I was in kindergarden again doing arts and crafts, but I certainly wasn't complaining. I painted a royal blue box with designs and patterns on the lid. I didn't have much of an idea of what I was going to draw, so I just kept adding designs to pass the time.
We had the option to stay after class to watch a movie about Turkish dancing and culture. As much as I would have enjoyed this film, I had already made plans to meet up with Hannah for lunch and she was waiting for me. You guessed it, we had Smag again for lunch, but instead of sharing fudge, we shared a chocolate nougat which reminded me a lot of Turkish delight. It was a very long night for both of us and an even longer morning for me having to wake up for class at 10am. Hannah had class at 4pm, so we decided to go to the Living Room to kill some time before class. I tried to do some work, but as soon as my butt hit the couch and my head hit the pillow I was falling asleep. I finally gave into temptation and slept for a solid hour. The rest of the day was designated a day of recovering to prepare for America's Birthday tomorrow, the Fourth of July.
